Travelling all the way over from County Wexford in Ireland, West Kirby Arts Centre’s evening headliner is folk-pop songstress Beki Hemingway. Her last album Whins and Weather was released last year and is a blend of ground–Americana, gospel, folk, and even a bit of old fashioned pop, woven together within her sixth release in a career which has spanned over 20 years.
Beki has travelled the globe playing across the UK and Europe and having several tours which have spread all over the USA. In that time she has grown large fan bases in Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver (where she was a deputy sheriff) and in Country music’s capital Nashville.
Having developed a love for smaller venues- and even fan’s houses- she comes to West Kirby to play the evening slot at the Arts centre. Within the intimate surroundings of the centre coupled with Hemingway’s captivating vocals this is one definitely not to be missed.
Her last album Whins and Weather saw some of her most open songwriting to date singing about moving home, the growing pains of adulthood and committing her life to her music and her family. Beki plays West Kirby Live in support of Clatterbridge hospital as herself is currently in remission after beating breast cancer.
