Liverpool rockers The Jjohns (pronounced Johns) arrive at West Kirby Live to bring back the Mersey-beat sound to West Kirby. The band’s sound, laced with harmonies and electric acoustic melodies, is highly influenced by the Mersey-beat era and Liverpudlian bands such as The La’s, Cast, Gerry and the Pacemakers and The Beatles.
The Jjohns released a four-track EP callled Stone Across My Cave in November 2016 plus a self-titled EP released last year on hot new label Modern Sky UK.
Other influential musicians for the band include the Bee Gee’s, The Everly brothers and Buddy Holly: all of whom are all obvious when listening to the bands mixed style of old rock and roll and new Mersey-beat.
There is something really infectious and unashamedly Scouse in their music. Powerful guitar lines bite away with driving melodies with vocals coming from Dom and Mik Dunning giving a strong, cheeky and boisterous input to add both gravitas and attitude to their great rock tracks.
