Country singer-songwriter Megan Louise returns to West Kirby Live after releasing her debut single “Train Song” on MLB records. With comparisons to Taylor Swift, LeAnn Rimes and Britney Spears the youngster has already had a radio play on Radio 2 and her single went straight in the iTunes UK Country new releases chart at number 3
While performing live she was told about her great country tone in her voice. Since then Country music has been her life as her major influences include, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, The Shires, Maddie & Tae, Kelsea Ballerini, Dolly Parton and Rascal Flatts.
Some of you may recognise the 16 year-old from her time performing on the Voice Kids. Will.i.am said she reminded him of a “younger Britney Spears” as her appearances have made her more motivated to make music her life.
With aspirations of travelling the world and visiting Nashville, West Kirby Live could see the start of something special for Wirral’s own Taylor Swift.
A regular feature on the exciting Liverpool acoustic scene Mark Pountney arrives at West Kirby Live after self-releasing a trio of self-titled albums of chilled americana influenced folk music. The singer-songwriter was a member of The Marbles, Super Giant and the Mojave Collective who he released a cracker of an album with called Rust and Dust.
His latest release Live At Home is a collection of songs recorded in front of his fire on Boxing Day. The songs explore Pountney’s many qualities and cover a variety of styles and subjects; from space missions to gunfighter ballads. The songs are stripped to their most basic form just one man and his guitar.
Pountney draws inspiration from a plethora of music’s greatest with American folk greats of Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Willie Nelson for his exquisite guitar work as the 60s rock hits of Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead and the Beach Boys inspire his lyrics.
Pountney brings a bit of a scouse twang to a sound that defines rolling desert, good times and summers nights- let’s hope the weather suits his warm vocals and sunset guitar lines.

“West Kirby Live is one of the highlights of my gigging year. There’s always a great buzz around West Kirby on the day and the atmosphere just gets better and better each year. I’ve played at the festival every year since the start and it’s gone from strength to strength. Travelling all the way over from County Wexford in Ireland, West Kirby Arts Centre’s evening headliner is folk-pop songstress Beki Hemingway. Her last album Whins and Weather was released last year and is a blend of ground–Americana, gospel, folk, and even a bit of old fashioned pop, woven together within her sixth release in a career which has spanned over 20 years.
Beki has travelled the globe playing across the UK and Europe and having several tours which have spread all over the USA. In that time she has grown large fan bases in Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver (where she was a deputy sheriff) and in Country music’s capital Nashville.
Having developed a love for smaller venues- and even fan’s houses- she comes to West Kirby to play the evening slot at the Arts centre. Within the intimate surroundings of the centre coupled with Hemingway’s captivating vocals this is one definitely not to be missed.
Her last album Whins and Weather saw some of her most open songwriting to date singing about moving home, the growing pains of adulthood and committing her life to her music and her family. Beki plays West Kirby Live in support of Clatterbridge hospital as herself is currently in remission after beating breast cancer.
